“The Tale of Losing Religion”
Madalyn Murray O'Hair was born into a household where both Lutheran and Presbyterian values were taught and by the age of 13, she decided to pick up the Bible and find out for herself, what it had to offer. But Madalyn found that she did not agree with the "hatred and violence filled" text and decided that an Atheist future would be for her. She didn't think much more into the matter until 1960, when her teenage son told her about mandatory prayer that the school participated in each day. Madalyn filed a lawsuit to change the state law regarding religion in schools, and went on to pursue legal separate of church and state, sending her down a path that would bring her fame, fortune, and eventually death.
